The Vitality Wellness Festival, part of the Vitality Westminster Mile and Vitality London 10,000 weekend, will be bigger and better than ever in 2024 with a host of new sports and activities on offer for free for all the family.
Over the weekend of 21 and 22 September, thousands will take part in the popular Vitality Westminster Mile and Vitality London 10,000. The Mile takes place on Saturday 21 September, with a celebrated one-mile loop around St James’s Park suitable for all ages and abilities, while the Vitality London 10,000 is the following day and will see 20,000 runners tackle the course through the streets of London and past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
Open on both event days will be the free Vitality Wellness Festival in Green Park, with participants, their families and friends and members of the public able to enjoy the variety of activities throughout the weekend.
Elaine Rayner, Event Lead for the Vitality Westminster Mile and Vitality London 10,000, said: “It is one of the pleasures of the weekend seeing families enjoy all that the Vitality Wellness Festival has to offer. Whether you are taking part in one of the events, are there to support, or are just a visitor to Green Park, there will be something that catches your eye, and it is suitable for all the family.”
Returning after a successful 2023 is the NBA area, and the space has grown in 2024 with the public and participants encouraged to have a go at basketball and make movement fun. There will be inflatable basketball courts, with hoops to practise shooting and a dribble course to test dexterity.
New in 2024 is the British Triathlon have-a-go session, with those in attendance able to test their speed on one of the six turbo bikes, including children’s bikes, as well as take on a duathlon challenge. A leaderboard will show the best scores, and there will be giveaways and prizes on offer throughout Saturday only.
Additionally, the Bloomsbury Football zone with a number of different activities to test ball skills, is new this year. Present on both days, activations will include a giant football Velcro target, where participants have three attempts to kick a football at a target and to score as many points as possible. There will also be volley and score sessions led by Bloomsbury Football coaches, a crossbar challenge, and other fun football drills which are suitable for all ages.
The popular Vitality Tumbleator returns in 2024, along with stretching sessions with Vitality and Peloton, with Our Parks running yoga activations, and there will be arts and crafts available throughout the weekend.
There will be meet and greet stands over the weekend – Blueprint for All, parkrun, and the Ruth Strauss Foundation – with participants and spectators able to speak with three organisations who have waves at the Vitality Westminster Mile. Children with Cancer UK will have a picnic area next to the meet and greet stands, allowing families to enjoy the early days of Autumn in Green Park, and will be alongside the Westminster Community Wave stand, where participants can collect their free packed lunches.
The Vitality Wellness Festival will be open between 8:30 to 16:00 on Saturday 21 September and 8:00to 14:00 on Sunday 22 September.
